It's Enough

The Big Boy leans against my leg

Pet-Pat-Paw on the couch

Eyes fixed on the cat

I'm trying to work on something

"I'll just finish this first" I think

But he doesn't relent

Leaning in with a wet nose and a huff of moist air

So I give him his pets and pats

And enjoy the soft-firm-warm press of him against my legs

(Aussies are the best leaners)

And remind myself that is ok for me to concentrate on him and me and nothing more

The world will not end

If I allow my universe to be just me and my dog

For as long as he wants
